Library to celebrate civil rights pioneer Ruby Bridges

ASHEBORO – Children and families are invited to learn about the civil rights movement through the eyes of Ruby Bridges, one of the first African American children to be placed in an integrated school in New Orleans during the 1960s.

The Asheboro Public Library Children’s Room will present readings from Through My Eyes, a biography of Bridges, and screen the full length movie Ruby Bridges at 4 p.m. Thursday, February 19.

The events is free and the public is invited.
