ASHEBORO – Liberty resident and first-time author Angel
Matthews will talk about her novel Charlotte Confederate Soldier at 7
p.m. Tuesday, January 19, at the Asheboro Public Library.
Matthews’ appearance, sponsored by the Friends of the
Library, is free and the public is invited.
A longtime history buff who, with her husband Grant, attends
Civil War re-enactments in period civilian garb, Matthews spent a year
researching and writing. “All of the history in the book is true,” she says.
The novel concerns a young, newly-wed North Carolina woman
whose opposition to slavery and search for her soldier husband leads to a
series of adventures, including a stint in the Confederate cavalry.
The library is located at 201 Worth Street. Call 318-6803
for further information.
